Order fulfillment is everything that happens from the moment an order is placed until it reaches the customer’s hands, ensuring the right products are delivered on time and in good condition.

Order fulfillment is the complete process of receiving, processing, and delivering a customer’s order.

Key steps typically include:

  1. Order Receipt – The order is received from a customer (via e-commerce, wholesale, or sales rep).

  2. Order Processing – Details are verified (items, quantities, pricing, shipping info) and stock availability is confirmed.

  3. Picking – Products are located in inventory and retrieved.

  4. Packing – Items are packaged securely, with any required labeling or compliance documentation (e.g., METRC manifests in cannabis).

  5. Shipping/Delivery – The order is shipped or delivered to the customer using the chosen method.

  6. Confirmation & Tracking – Tracking numbers and shipment confirmations are sent to the customer.

  7. Inventory & Records Update – Stock levels are adjusted, and records are updated for accounting and compliance.
